I'm Min Ji. Today, I would like to post my reflection in GLPS. I am gonna look back on my life at KMLA. At first, I had three goals that I wanted to achieve. Do you remember?
The first goal that I want to achieve was to loose my weight, at least five kilogram. Steps that I followed are to not to eat more than one dish and not eat after 9:30.
The second goal was to win the debate competition. Because that is gonna be an evidence that I studied hard.
Finally, I wanted get many green cards. Green card has a big and good impact on final awards.
I think I achieved one goal. That is not that high number but it is satisfying too. I achieved the second goal. We didn't do the final debate competition yet, but I think I had enough improvements. At first, my speech time was 3 minutes and something. And I was so surprising about 13 minutes speech.
But now, I can do that and I'm much easier to free talk in front of the audiences. That was a huge improvement to me. And I wish I can get into six people who are debating in front of parents. I really want to show my improvements.
And I think I had a valuable summer vacation, and it was a great decision to come here during the summer vacation. Thank you.
I think you don't have to loose weight. You are still very slim, in my opinion. :) I am the one who has to loose weight.... Anyway, I am happy to hear that you learned a lot of things from the camp. Not only have you seen great improvement on debate, but also you have seen drastic improvement on blog writing.
ReplyDeleteI will give an overall comment based on what I have read for the last two weeks. To be honest, I really enjoyed reading your posts. :) Your creative story was one of the best stories I have ever read. Actually, I selected you as the shoutout for week 3. After a 2 hour discussion with Ms.Kerber, however, I had to select other student for the shoutout because of the illustration. (I was very disappointed at that fact) You haven't failed at all to satisfy my expectation with your blog writing :) Keep up the good work!
What you can improve later on is trying out with complex sentence structures and listening to news and documentaries. Your sentences seem to be limited to simple sentences. There are many complex sentence structures, such as independent and dependent clause (I wanted to go hiking; however, I couldn't hike because it was raining), appositives (A person exceptionally talented in mathematics, John Nash became an eminent professor), modifiers, and so on. There are several ways to improve and practice complex sentence structures. One way is to read several books. I recommend you to read "Newberry Awards books", books which have received critical acclaims from authors and readers. Such books include "the giver", "a girl named disaster", and "Charlotte's Web". If you want to improve your performances in debate, I recommend you to listen to news and documentaries every day. Try to memorize or repeat what the narrators and characters say in the film. Your pronunciation, speech, and dialect will definitely improve. :)
It has been a pleasure to meet a student so talented in writing essays. :) Have a nice summer. If you have any questions, feel free to call me on facebook. You will be able to find my account by searching "Sun Woo James Park".
